Freedom

Freedom

Freedom is a concept that few human beings have been able to experience. There are those who live in countries that claim to be the freedom fighters for the rest of the world. But seeing it up close, we can be more slaves than those who never knew this strange form of freedom.

Under the name of liberty we bind ourselves to a prison, such as being bound to a daily routine, in order to get the things that will  enslave us even more. Because when we obtain these things we need to keep them in perfect condition by maintaining them. This enslaving effort is so that we can make sure theses things are not stolen from us. We acquire houses, cars, jewelry, clothes, and more things that, instead of giving us freedom and happiness, they enslave us and robbing us of our inherent peace.

Coupled with these things comes competition, e.g., my things are of better quality than the things of other people. If I have more than the rest; if I have this then somehow I’m  a better person. We feel more important and we live by  the notion that “more is better.”

We can also say that we have nothing, so we are free. But maybe we have bad habits and routines yet without them we can’t function well on our daily life. Our daily cup(s) of coffee to wake up; our favorite foods; and the use of pharmaceuticals or drugs to soothe our endless human sufferings. We even hold the belief of maintaining a healthy diet to lengthen our life of enslavement.

Or, we maybe addicted to toxic relationships that oppress and bind us to a life of pain and anxiety.
We go from one relationship to another looking in others for what we can only find inside ourselves.
We may have mental chains; we may be imprisoned in an emotional prison of pain, resentment, hatred, fear, intolerance, or sexual obsessions.

So who can say that they are really free?

We drag our chains disguised as masks; we may feel we have a more beautiful mask than others; we may have stronger arguments than others; and we may say that our chains are lighter than others. Or, we find sacred arguments to show off our chains. But at the end of the day, what are they any way?
They are chains.

We have the silly illusion that those who are deprived of their freedom are only those who are behind bars… but where are our chains?

We can be outdoors receiving the sunlight, but in our mind and in our lifes there are walls and fences higher than those in a maximum security prison.

We have convicted ourselves, and the funny part is that when we serve our sentence, we impose yet another one.
It goes something like this: “When I pay for my car, when I pay for my house; when I finish school; when I get married; when I get divorced; when I win the lottery; when I retire; when the democrats rule the congress; when my family believes like I do when I get a job; when I quit smoking; and when I leave jail.” When, when, when, when.

An unconscious life is an imprisoned life: We are the worst judges we could find to hear our case and give our judgment and sentencing.

What binds you? What drowns you? What worries you? What hurts you? What is overwhelming? What is it that sometimes takes your breath away and makes you feel like something is  oppressing your chest, and leaving gasping for air?

God created us free. But, all by ourselves and with no help at all, we have gotten into our mind and cells using the so-called “Free Will.” We have chained ourselves; we have divided ourselves into categories of races, creeds, nationalities, social groups, and all sorts of other with endless labels, divisions, and barriers. It’s them versus us.

We have set up ourselves with goals, thoughts, beliefs, and other such nonsense, which takes away our freedom.

Not even on the spiritual path do we allow freedom to guide us, because we allow the spiritual path form to impose upon us many rules, commandments, and precepts that, instead of giving us light, they obscure our true thoughts, and our minds became narrowed. Sometimes we have the absurd idea that our spiritual path is better than those of others. Maybe we think that our way is better than the rest. In some instances, we even believe that we are the “Chosen Ones” by a god who acts like a mortal human. We have tied ourselves even more, by becoming spiritual fanatics… thus, the walls rise higher and we become more absurd.

In order to experience true Freedom we have to abandon all preconceived notions and ideas related to EVERYTHING in our life because what we have chosen provide us with no Freedom or Peace!
Surrender to God –completely - for He is the only One who really knows what true Freedom is, He is intrinsically free. He is pure Love and He created us the same way.

Even though now, we may be behind bars, we can still experience freedom because freedom is an innate condition of our inner eternal Spirit. We will never find freedom on the physical plane, but we can experience it while in the physical reality.

So let’s release our chains; let’s open the doors of the mental prison we have placed ourselves in. Let’s FLY! LET’S BE REALLY FREE!

Let’s place our minds in the hands of the Holy Spirit, or whatever higher source we believe guide us. Let’s stop  limiting ourselves, and instead, let’s call our angels, our guides, our God, so they can clean us up. They will heal us. They will help us free ourselves. They will guide us as to how we can do a spiritual overhaul. Only then we will achieve true freedom, regardless of where we are physically or spiritually right now.

We can be called a slave and have a master, but we can also be truly free. Because in truth our mind and the spirit that we ignorantly use to chain ourselves with…  are intrinsically… always free.

With Love,

Patricia E. Garcia

We are free. The door is wide open, but we unknowingly locked the door and forgotten where we  placed the key.
